GParted -- Disk Management
Need to get the disk ready to install Linux with a user friendly interface. Or hell you can use this before you install windows. Wonderful disk manager call GParted. GParted basically works the same as Partition Magic except with more functionality and it's on a CD and its free. K9Copy -- DVD Transcoding
Wanna copy DVDs like everyone else? Were you prior to Linux using DVD Shrink or something pretty similar? Well you can still do the same, use K9Copy. It's the same thing, still free and seems to work well. Get it at http://k9copy.sourceforge.net/index.php

XMMS -- MP3's for me and you, and you and me
Like your WinAmp look and don't wanna say goodbye? Well so do I. There are two programs that look just like it, one better than another. Skins galore and just plain fun. The first and better of the two would be XMMS (X Multimedia System). The other would just about the same and it's called Audacious.

Xine -- Everybody wants to view Video
Afraid that your Windows Media is going to be lost but not forgotten? Not really. There are a variety of players out there that you can still view your nuddie .wmv videos in. No worries kids. One of the most slick apps I've experience would have to be Xine. Xine is a god send when it is working (yeah atheist boy saying god send). I say this cause it can be difficult to get fully installed, once it is you have some some plug-ins to install. Then your good to go. Xine has a lot of problems running in GNOME but for the most part, works out pretty well. You could just use movie player that comes bundled w/the interface, but what fun is that?

Amarok is pretty much tits as far as a music player. It also integrates with last.fm if anyone is into that. There's pretty much a good Linux version of whatever your favorite Win or Mac program is, and then some. Many times it's better, some times...not so much.

Heck yeah. I use GNOME and find that a lot of programs at least for me are not so stable. Of coarse since I have extremely shitty hardware and use SUSE I think it has something to do with it. I'm planning on rebuilding a cheap server and tossing on Fedora. If you got any other suggestions for software I'd love to hear them too.
